Couture Planet®, a women-owned business in Lynn, Massachusetts, creates fashion‑forward handbags and accessories from 100% post-consumer newspaper. Our products are proudly MADE IN THE USA. Our statement-making bags, bearing headlines from the world of fashion, art, food, travel, sports, and much more, are available in a variety of styles and shapes.
Each bag tells a special story. “Newspapers are iconic and historic,” notes founder, Constance Carman. “I don’t know if people realize what a treasure they are. We are trying to create a green, unique, made in America product that means something special to its owner.”
Couture Planet® grew out of a recycling project in 2009. Today we manufacture our product line from a sewing shop in Lynn, Massachusetts. Business partners and owners Kathy Cormier and Michelle Kane are fully committed to creating sustainable products—and business—in the local Lynn community while expanding the parameters of the MADE IN THE USA movement.
The City of Lynn has a long history as a manufacturing hub, and we aim to honor and grow this tradition. Our bags are sewn by talented artisans in our eco-conscious manufacturing facility. Our repurposed leather straps are made by a family-owned company here in New England. We employ the underserved and mentor students through a local jobs program. We are committed to connect, collaborate, and contribute to our community.
It is possible to be eco-conscious fashion forward. Our Couture Planet® products represent upcycling at its best.
